TUMMY TUCK

This 47-year-old patient presented herself to Dr. Siamak Agha for a Tummy Tuck procedure. The patient’s goal in undergoing a Tummy Tuck procedure was to restore her abdominal contour and to remove skin stretches after multiple pregnancies. Her tummy tuck procedure was accompanied by liposuction, when tummy tucks and liposuctions are combined it is commonly referred to as a lipoabdominoplasty procedure. Post-operative tummy tuck before and after pictures were taken 3 months after her tummy tuck and liposuction procedure.

Pregnancy can cause the skin to stretch and separate the two main muscles in the abdomen that are responsible for a tight and toned looking abdomen. This causes saggy and loose skin with broken down abdomen muscles. The skin on the abdomen is stretched beyond its capability, therefore resulting in a tear of the deep dermal layer of skin. Many times after, the skin is stretched so far that it cannot retract back to its original tightness/look. This cause extra skin and fatty tissue to sag since the laxity of the abdominal wall has been affected.
