Brazilian Butt Lift
Dr. Agha’s Signature Procedure for
a Curvaceous, Hourglass Figure
Having a perky, Jennifer Lopez-caliber booty is nice and all, but when you come to really think of it, it’s not just the rounded buttocks that make J. Lo uber attractive.
Her small waist and firm, toned thighs give her an hourglass shape. Her lower back has a smooth, concave sweep that’s devoid of any excess fat. She even has a V-shaped depression that distinctly separates the lower back from her upper buttocks. There are no saddlebags, love handles, and cellulite in sight.
While many women think that having a nice pair of buttocks is all they need, the truth is, the attractiveness of these buttocks depends on the bigger picture. It has to be complemented with the right curves at the right places in order to have an aesthetically pleasing front and back appearance.
And you can achieve bigger buttocks and beautiful womanly curves in one surgery with a high-definition Brazilian butt lift — the signature surgery of internationally-renowned top Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Dr. Siamak Agha.
Dr. Agha is an expert in body contouring surgery, creating curvaceous buttocks that many celebrities have recently been flaunting.
As an expert in buttock reshaping with one of the largest butt galleries in the USA, Dr. Agha offers many buttock enhancement procedures, such as butt lift procedures and buttock augmentation surgeries like buttock implants and buttock fat transfer — aka Brazilian butt lift.

What Determines Buttock Size and Shape?
The shape of your buttocks is influenced by a number of factors, such as genetics, race, gender, aging, and weight.
What is the Ideal Buttock Shape
and Back View?
There are certain features that define an aesthetically beautiful pair of buttocks.
Similarly, Dr. Agha believes that the focus should not just be the ideal buttocks, but the ideal back view. This includes the ideal back contour — meaning the ideal buttocks framed by the ideal back, waist, and thighs.
What is a High-Definition
Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift or BBL is a truly ingenious buttock augmentation procedure that accomplishes two goals:
- It removes fat from unwanted places, such as the love handles, abdomen, and back.
- It then transfers the fat into a wanted location — your buttocks.
According to the 2019 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of BBL procedures done has risen by 17% from 2018 to 2019 — a testament to the growing popularity of the surgery.
Although the procedure sounds simple, the outcome of a BBL is more dependent on the skills and knowledge of your chosen plastic surgeon than any other plastic surgery procedure. That is why choosing the right plastic surgeon is crucial if you want to achieve the best BBL results.
Dr. Siamak Agha, a physician-scientist with a research interest in fat and stem cells and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge, has established his own approach to both the surgical and scientific aspects of BBL. He has put together his many years of BBL experience to pioneer his very own high-definition Brazilian butt lift technique.
Like his high-definition tummy tuckTM, the principle behind the high-definition BBL is the creation of the third dimension of projection or depth. In the hands of Dr. Agha, a body sculpting expert, liposuction is not only used to remove unwanted fat from various areas, but also to sculpt curvature and definitions into a patient’s body.
Liposuction of the love handles and waist can greatly enhance the physique of a woman’s body by creating an hourglass look. Liposculpture of the lower back enhances lower back concavity and brings out the definition of your back.
Thus, it is important that liposculpture of the lower back is done in a V-shape manner so that the upper edge of the buttocks is beautifully and naturally recreated.
Dr. Agha liposuctions the fat using gold-standard tumescent liposuction. Among all liposuction types, tumescent liposuction is the least damaging to the fat, which is made up of billions of cells, including fat and stem cells.
Dr. Agha performs his liposuction using specific gentle cannulas under low pressure to preserve the survival of the fat cells. These are then washed and cleaned off of any damaged cells, fluids, or blood.
He then carefully injects pure, processed fat cells into the buttocks as minute droplets while shaping and sculpting your butt cheeks. This is an extremely important factor in the survival of the newly transplanted fat cells.
These transplanted fat cells will require nutrients and oxygen for their survival, so it is paramount that they are spread evenly within fat cells that already reside in your butt cheeks.
The hallmark result of Dr. Agha’s high-definition Brazilian butt lift is a perkier, fuller, lifted, and sculpted pair of buttocks, with concavity of the lower back and waist.
What Should You Expect from Your Initial Brazilian Butt Lift Consultation with Dr. Agha?
During the consultation, Dr. Agha will ask you about your health status, as well as your concerns, priorities, and motivations for getting a BBL. He will also walk you through the entire procedure, from preparation to recovery, so that you know exactly what to expect.
Dr. Agha will assess your lower body contour to ensure that you get the BBL results you want.
How Does Dr. Agha Do a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Dr. Agha performs BBL surgeries in a fully accredited outpatient surgery center.
The length of the procedure depends on the specifics of surgery and the amount of liposuction, although in general, each BBL procedure takes about three to four hours.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how Dr. Agha performs each BBL procedure.
Before your BBL, Dr. Agha will ask you to quit smoking for at least three weeks before the procedure.
You will also be asked to temporarily stop taking certain drugs and supplements, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and aspirin, as these cause bleeding after surgery.
Make sure that you arrange for a friend or family member to drive you to and from the clinic, as you won’t be able to do so after your surgery. You also need to have someone to stay with and take care of you for at least a few days after your BBL.
Prepare any materials that you will need for your recovery, such as compression garments, antibiotics, painkillers, and gauze.
Do not eat or drink anything starting from midnight prior to your surgery.
How Do You Recover from a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Recovery from BBL may take up to 14 days. But you are encouraged to get out of bed and start walking within 24 hours to enhance your circulation and reduce your chances of developing blood clots in your legs.
Right after your surgery, you may notice some blood-tinged fluid oozing from your liposuction site. It is actually tumescent fluid that was injected to plump up your tissues for liposuction.
You don’t have to worry about it as it is normal and only lasts for a day.
However, bruising is inevitable in many areas that are liposuctioned or grafted. It might even extend to adjacent and dependent areas.
Though these bruises will resolve on their own, make sure that you avoid sun exposure while you’re recovering so that the bruises do not become permanent skin stains.
You will experience mild discomfort and tightness in your bum area for the first 72 to 96 hours. This will begin to subside on the fourth to fifth day post-op. Dr. Agha will also prescribe you painkillers to help you manage your discomfort.
You’ll also experience swelling, which may take 3-6 weeks to subside. Some numbness may also occur for 4-8 weeks, which you can alleviate by massaging your surgical areas to avoid hypersensitivity or skin irritation.
If you experience itchiness on your liposuctioned areas, you can soothe those spots by applying Vaseline or heavy lotion.
To alleviate the tension and pressure on your buttocks, make sure to sleep on your stomach or sides during the first two weeks post-op.
Avoid putting direct pressure on your buttocks for more than a few minutes at a time. If you really have to sit, use a very soft cushion for up to six weeks.
When it comes to hygiene, make sure that you keep your incisions dry and clean until they completely heal. Keep your dressings and garments dry as well.
Avoid any activity that raises your blood pressure on your first week post-op to avoid bleeding and hematoma formation.
As for scarring, expect your tiny incisions to become firm and pink in six weeks. However, it might take as long as nine months before your scars lighten in color and become as flat as the rest of your skin.
But you don’t need to worry about this since butt enhancement scars will not show under most clothing, even bathing suits.
Here is an estimated timeline of your Brazilian butt lift recovery.

What Results Can You Expect from a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift will give you:
- Rounder, perkier, fuller buttocks
- A more balanced and sensuous look to your whole backside
- Improvement in buttock shape and contour
- Tighter and firmer buttocks
- A more youthful and curvaceous figure
- Less unwanted fats in other areas of your body
- More fashionable clothing choices
- Less feeling of self-consciousness
- A boost in confidence and self-esteem
But remember that BBL shouldn’t be viewed as a magical cure. While it can help you achieve the backside you want, you have to make lifestyle changes to maintain your new shape.
That said, you should incorporate a healthy diet and exercise regimen into your routine to make your results last longer.
What are the Potential Risks and Complications?
BBL is an extremely safe procedure when done by a board-certified, well-experienced plastic surgeon.
But as safe as BBL is, there’s still a possibility for minor risks and complications, such as the following:
- Fluid accumulation
- Fat necrosis
- Fatty cyst formation
- Fat Calcification
- Changes in skin sensation
- Adverse anesthesia reactions
- Minor Asymmetry
Rest assured that all of these will be discussed by Dr. Agha during the consultation and before you sign your surgery consent form.
How Much Does a Brazilian Butt Lift Cost?
According to RealSelf data, the cost of BBL can range anywhere from $7,000 to as high as $14,000.
There are plenty of factors that will affect the final price of your surgery. The main factor is the amount of liposuction involved, as well as the number of areas you want to be liposuctioned. Some may need liposuction of their back only, while others may want to have the procedure performed on their back, abdomen, thighs, and arms.
You should also consider other costs, such as anesthesia fees, laboratory tests, medications, post-op care, and surgical facility fees. Your location and choice of plastic surgeon will also affect your total cost.
As for insurance, BBL procedures are rarely covered. However, you can ask Dr. Agha for financing options to help you curb the cost of surgery.
