BUTTOCK IMPLANTS

– NEWPORT BEACH, CA –

The era of the big booty is upon us.Thanks to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, the big booty movement soared in popularity over the past decade, quickly becoming the ideal backside for countless women all over the world.

But while having firm, round buttocks symbolize femininity and sensuality, the picture won’t be as aesthetically pleasing if your curves aren’t placed in the right places.

The ideal buttock shape has certain features that have been well established. These are round or A-shaped buttocks on a backside that has no love handles, no lower back fat excess, and no saddlebags.

Think about it this way: Your buttocks are the lovely image in the center of a picture frame. No matter how beautiful the photo is, the overall look will be sullied if the surrounding frame is plain and unappealing.

A pleasing pair of buttocks is just one part of your whole back aesthetics. The area around it should also be smooth and sculpted to remove love handles, saddlebags, and back fat, thus creating an hourglass silhouette that will perfectly complement your rounded buttocks.

The best way to achieve that is through the Brazilian butt lift, which involves augmenting the buttocks with your own liposuctioned fat from surrounding areas.

But what if you don’t have enough fat? Not to worry because you can get a buttock implant surgery courtesy of one of SoCal’s top board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Siamak Agha of The Aesthetic Centers.

Dr. Agha has vast experience in butt enhancement surgeries and offers a number of different procedures aimed at augmentation, lifting, and/or reshaping the buttocks.

What is Buttock Augmentation
with Buttock Implants?

Buttocks implants are a popular butt augmentation procedure that enhances the shape, size, and appearance of your buttocks.

The procedure involves insertion of semi-solid silicone implants into your backside to achieve larger buttocks and a more proportionate figure.

Suitable for men and women alike, butt implants are commonly offered to patients who want to achieve buttock augmentation, but are not suitable candidates for a Brazilian butt lift because:

  • They don’t have enough fat
  • They have loose skin on their body, which might get looser due to liposuction
  • They recently lost a massive amount of weight and are already experiencing buttock sagging

If you fall into any of these three categories but you still want to have a nice pair of booties, then you might want to consider getting buttock implants or butt lift surgery instead.

Buttock Implants vs. Brazilian Butt Lift:
What’s the Difference?

But before you make a decision, it is important to know the difference between these two buttock augmentation procedures.

While buttock implants require insertion of silicone butt implants into your backside, the Brazilian butt lift (BBL) involves removing fat from fat-rich areas of your body through liposuction, and then transferring it to your buttocks to add volume and enhance contours.

But not everyone will have enough available fat that can be transferred to the buttocks. Thus, if you have minimal or no fat, you may still achieve a periker, rounder bottom with the use of butt implants.

Furthermore, since buttocks implants are made from semi-solid silicone, the results of buttock implants are permanent, with no size change with weight gain or loss.  article.

On the other hand, about 20% of the transferred fat resorbs soon after a BBL. Future weight loss and gains also affect your buttock size proportionally as it would naturally.

Still, one major advantage of BBL over buttock implants is the fact that the results look and feel more natural. That is the reason why it is crucial to get the correct implant shape, size, and placement with the help of a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Agha.

You also have the option to combine these two procedures to produce a more dramatic result.

What are the Different Types of Buttock Implants?

Buttocks implants are slightly firmer than breast implants, though they are still soft and flexible. They mimic the shape and feel of a strong and shapely backside. They also come in smooth and textured varieties.

But unlike breast implants, butt implants are semi-solid, so they do not run the risk of leaking. You can also choose from different sizes, although Dr. Agha will recommend the most flattering size for your frame that meets your desires and preferences.

Based on Shape

You can choose between round or oval-shaped buttock implants.

Round

As the most common buttock implant shape, round implants produce a bubble butt look, which is the goal of most patients who get buttock augmentation.  Round implants produce central buttock augmentation and deliver more projection than oval-shaped implants, creating a rounder appearance.

Round-shaped implants are recommended for patients with a square-shaped or flat backside.

Oval

Also known as anatomic implants, oval butt implants mimic the shape of the buttocks that are bottom heavy, with the lower end of the implants being more prominent than the upper.

These implants are best for those who have an elongated pair of buttocks, as well as those who want to achieve a fuller lower butt or an A-shaped butt.

However, unlike round implants, if oval implants rotate, they may cause visible deformities and a skewed rear appearance that may require revision surgery.

Based on Content

All buttock implants these days are made of silicone that’s firm, durable, and natural-looking. In the United States, only semi-solid silicone implants are approved for buttock augmentation.

Preferred by most plastic surgeons, semi-solid buttock implants are extremely durable, which comes in handy because your butt area receives a lot of pressure and stress every day. It poses no risk of rupture and leakage.

Examples of Buttocks Implants

Dr. Agha uses the following buttock implants for his patients:

ContourFlex™ Gluteal — Round

These implants provide a prominent, round fullness to your buttocks. Their hand-smoothed edges also allow for a smooth fit, whether the implants are inserted via intramuscular or subfascial placements.

Inserting them into the surgical pockets is also easy because Dr. Agha can roll and insert them through small surgical incisions.

ContourFlex™ Gluteal — Round (Textured)

These implants are made using extra-soft solid silicone, providing both comfort and durability.

The textured surface also stabilizes their position whether they are inserted intramuscularly or subfascially, making them less likely to migrate over time.

ContourFlex™ Gluteal — Anatomical

These implants provide a teardrop-shaped profile to your buttocks. Their hand-smoothed edges also allow for a smooth fit, whether inserted intramuscularly or subfascially.

Dr. Agha can also roll and insert them through a single small surgical incision.

ContourFlex™ Gluteal — Anatomical (Textured)

These oval-shaped implants are made of extra-soft solid silicone with a textured surface. It can increase the width-to-height ratios and volumes to enhance your buttocks area.

How Does Dr. Agha Insert Buttock Implants?

You can get buttocks implants as an outpatient procedure in an ambulatory surgical facility. The procedure takes between two and three hours on average.

Here is an explanation of how Dr. Agha performs buttock augmentation surgery using buttock implants.

Preparation

Before the actual surgery, you will be advised by Dr. Agha to stop smoking for at least three weeks to promote better healing. You will also be prohibited from taking aspirin, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal medications that might increase your risk of bleeding.

Since it is an outpatient procedure, make sure that you arrange for someone to accompany you and drive you to and from the surgical office. You should also have someone to stay with you for at least one night following the surgery.

Anesthesia

A board-certified anesthesiologist administers general anesthesia to keep you sleep and pain-free during the whole buttock implant insertion.

Incision

Unlike most plastic surgeons that place two curved incisions on the top of each inner butt, Dr. Agha creates only one incision in the crease between the butt cheeks, so you don’t have to worry about the scar being noticeable.

The incision is about two inches long, then extended on each side towards the buttock muscles.

Implant Placement

Dr. Agha then creates a perfectly sized pocket that’s large enough to place the butt implants within snugly.

Butt implants are either placed within the butt muscles (intramuscular) or over the butt muscle but under the muscle connective tissue covering (subfascial).

Intramuscular

In this technique, Dr. Agha creates a precisely sized pocket within the buttocks’ main gluteus muscle and inserts the implants into the muscle.

Intramuscular implant placement is recommended for patients who need more fullness in the upper portion of their butt cheeks.

However, this particular technique stretches your tissues and may cause pain. But Dr. Agha will make sure to prescribe you with pain medications during recovery.

Subfascial

This technique involves placing the buttock implants over the muscle but under the thick connective tissue that covers the muscle.

It is the method of choice for patients who need more fullness in the central or lower half of the buttocks. You can also use larger implant sizes for this.

Post-Surgery

After making sure that your butt cheeks look symmetrical and natural, Dr. Agha closes your single incision and applies a compression garment on it. He may also place a drain in your operative site to minimize fluid retention.

How Do You Recover from Getting Buttock Implants?

When you get buttock implants, you should prepare yourself for several weeks of downtime. Compared to cosmetic surgeries in other body parts, buttock surgery may feel more painful because your butt is used for daily physical activities like standing and walking.

Pain and soreness are expected within the first few days post-op, but these can be managed by pain medications prescribed by Dr. Agha.

Make sure to keep the incision site super clean. Always wipe yourself away from the incision.

You’ll also have some bruising and swelling not just on your backside, but also on your thigh areas. It will begin to subside after a week or so.

You are advised to stay on bed rest on the day of surgery, though you will be instructed to move your hands and feet to maintain good circulation. You should walk the next day.

Until your first follow-up consultation, you will be instructed to lie on your stomach or on your sides to avoid putting pressure on your buttocks. You will only be allowed to sit when using the toilet or eating.

Once you are allowed to sit, you should do so with a soft or special donut pillow placed beneath your hamstring muscles but not touching your buttocks. You can’t put direct pressure on your operative site for at least eight weeks.

It may take three to six months to finally see the results of your surgery without it being obscured by swelling. That is why you are only advised to shop for your new clothes after three months.

What are the Potential Risks and Complications?

The insertion of buttock implants is a relatively safe surgery. But it still has some risks and potential complications that you should watch out for.

Some rare complications include bleeding, fluid collection, nerve and muscle damage, adverse anesthesia reactions, capsular contracture, incision separation, and implant rupture.

One risk that you have to watch out for is infection, especially with a buttock crease incision. Make sure that you closely follow Dr. Agha’s post-operative instructions to keep your incision site clean at all times. If you experience prolonged pain, skin inflammation, or fever, don’t hesitate to call Dr. Agha.

It is also possible for your implants to shift over time, causing your rear end to become asymmetrical. But in the hands of an experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Agha, this risk is minimized because he will place the implants in a precisely developed snug pocket.

How Much Does a Buttock Implant Cost?

On average, butt implants cost around $9,000, though it can go as high as $14,000 depending on a number of factors.

One of the things that can affect the cost of your buttock augmentation is the type of implant you’re going to get. Some brands, types, and styles cost more than others.

The extent of your surgery is another factor. Depending on your consultation with Dr. Agha, you have the option of combining butt implants with fat transfer and liposuction.
